Freedom From Smoking® Clinics
Freedom From Smoking® is an eight-week program that takes you through the quitting process one step at a time in a supportive environment. It offers a proven method for quitting based on the premise that smoking is a learned activity. A certified facilitator helps you understand when and why you smoke so you can learn to fight your addiction and quit for good.
Classes are taught in small groups that meet regularly over an eight-week period. During the first session, the instructor will explain the program, how it works, and what you can expect. In the following weeks, you develop a deeper understanding of what triggers your need to smoke and ways to cope without lighting up. Each session builds your confidence and motivation until you are ready to quit.
Program sessions address a number of key issues:
- Managing stress
- Nicotine withdrawal
- Weight control
- Long-term strategies for staying free from tobacco
Your class will serve as a support group where you can share your struggles and successes with others who understand what you are going through.

Freedom From Smoking® Online
Our free online program, which uses the same proven method as our seven-week clinic, lets you quit at your own pace by logging on to the quit-smoking program wherever and whenever you choose.
This online program uses a workbook with eight modules to guide you through the quitting process and help you understand when and why you smoke so you can change your behavior and quit for good. In the first module, you learn more about the program and what to expect.
The modules address a number of key issues, including managing stress, nicotine withdrawal, and long-term strategies for staying smoke-free. A message board provides an online support group where you can share your struggles and successes, and get support from others who know what you’re going through.
Freedom From Smoking® Facilitator Training
Freedom From Smoking® facilitator training is a required course for all who intend to assist smokers in quitting through the Freedom From Smoking® program. Participants are trained to lead our eight-week quit-smoking program and use proven methods to ensure success for smokers who want to quit. Those who successfully complete the one-day training will be certified by the American Lung Association.
The facilitator training helps participants understand the quitting process. Through lectures and group activities, participants learn the concepts, philosophy, materials and techniques used in our seven-week Freedom From Smoking® program.
At the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Identify the characteristics of effective group leadership
- Facilitate each Freedom From Smoking® module
- Implement a variety of problem-solving techniques
- Define key levels of communication skills
Most ex-smokers say quitting was the hardest thing they have ever done – and it’s the most important for good health. So if you are looking for a way to make the most difference in someone’s life, this is it.
